Embracing the Champion Within

My training is shaping me into the athlete and coach I aspire to be. It’s not about pushing limits; it’s about tuning in to my body and instincts. When it’s time to perform, I carry that confidence with me.

Today was one of those tough training sessions—a formidable challenge of 50 x 25m DNF with a demanding 35-second interval. To add to the complexity, it’s day two of my cycle, a phase that often gets overlooked in athletic discussions. For me, it means an extra 20% effort. This is a conversation that needs to be more visible, especially among female athletes. Understanding our bodies and their rhythms is essential for achieving peak performance.

Completing today’s training was more than just a physical achievement; it was about embracing the experience and discovering what I could accomplish. From experience, I felt that I could handle what I asked of my body.

Joe and I wear this quote on bracelets as a constant reminder: "My only competition is who I was yesterday."
